Who are you and how did you become
The Cornerstone Coach™?

Now before you get deep into my bio and laundry list of my qualifications, let me tell you a little secret –– I’m not that different from you! Not too long ago, I was building my life without having my cornerstone firmly set in place. While many people thought my life was well put together, in reality the foundation was weak and my life was crumbling before my eyes.

Let me tell you more.

I spent the earliest years of my career as a community organizer, an educator, and a researcher.

I supported individuals in advocating for better living and working conditions for themselves. I helped educators use historical and social frameworks to understand school systems in order to better meet the needs of their students. And, I conducted research and landscape analysis at top universities and agencies to find solutions to improving equity in the education, labor/employment, and healthcare systems, as well as society at large. In all of these roles, I witnessed individuals frustrated by the circumstances they were living and working in and challenged them to demand and fight for better systems. But, the unfortunate reality was that no matter how hard we tried to make a difference, the systems never changed and continued to be a disservice to the people they were intended to serve.

And before I knew what was happening, just like the people I worked in service for, I found myself feeling disempowered by the systems around me. Soon, my dissatisfaction at work began to impact my health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

And then it became clear…

You might not be able to control the systems around you, but you can control how much the broken systems impact you! I finally realized that all while I was working to change systems, the real transformation that was happening was in the people I was working with. Before my eyes, I witnessed individuals recognize their own intrinsic value, ability, and contributions –– and to me, that was the work that was most important!

And so I shifted my focus from changing systems to helping people realize their own empowerment.

But first, that work started with me.

When I started implementing the tools that I’ll be sharing through The Cornerstone Concept my life began to quickly shift and change in ways I couldn’t even imagine. Just a few of the immediate transformations I recognized were:

  • I was able to more clearly articulate the intentions I had for my life and became more in control of fulfilling those achievements

  • My physical, mental, and spiritual health improved tremendously.

  • My home and marriage gained more harmony , because I learned that caring for myself was vital towards the successful care of others

  • I became engaged in professional work that is more deeply aligned with my purpose.

  • Despite what happens around me, I am able to maintain grounded and balanced because I am anchored in myself and not the systems around me.

I became The Cornerstone Coach™ to help people like me, and the many people I’ve worked with, who were tired of systems dictating their lives and ready to stand on the faith necessary to embrace their CORNERSTONE and build a life for themselves that they are empowered by.
